Lillington, NC : One killed another was injured after being stuck by a car at Harnett County On Monday, June 27th, 2016
Lillington, North Carolina
A teenage boy was killed and a teen girl hurt when both were struck by a car Monday night in Harnett County, a trooper tells CBS North Carolina.
Nasir Everette, 16, was walking east in the westbound lane of Micro Tower Road at 9:15 p.m. He was with Ariyana Henson, 15, who was on a bike, when Joseph Hardison of Lillington was traveling eastbound and attempted to
pass another car.
Officials say Hardison’s 2002 Mazda Protege hit the teens on the dark stretch of highway. Everette died on the scene and Henson was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Authorities say she is stable.
A 13-year-old boy, Larvarus Artis of Fayetteville, was also with the pair, but was walking on the shoulder of the road. He was unhurt.
Highway Patrol tells CBS North Carolina that the three teens were heading home from a friend’s house that was less than a mile away from the accident scene.
Caleb Henderson and Andre McGuire knew Everette and said they were supposed to be walking with the trio last night.
“We do everything. Like he was there for me all the time. Like I don’t, it’s crazy,” Henderson said.
Ladora Blair said the teens aren’t the only ones who walk along the busy road. Something needs to change to keep another tragedy from occurring along Micro Tower Road, she said.
