LUDLOW, MA : Car destroyed in tractor-trailer crash on Andover Street on Wednesday, 1st August 2018

“Terrible Mountain” on Route 100 south has claimed its latest victim: A tractor-trailer with failing brakes flipped onto its side, launching thousands of pounds of heavy pallets into a home on Andover Street.

The flying lumber demolished most of the structure at 668 Andover St., damaged a neighbor’s home, and sent two people to the hospital with injuries.

Detective Sgt. Richard King, of the Ludlow Police Department, said local departments and rescue squads know “Terrible Mountain,” Route 100 south, all too well.

“It’s called that by all the locals,” King said. “Route 100 south between Ludlow and Weston, go over Old Weston Mountain and that’s ‘Terrible Mountain,'” he said.

King said he got a call around 1 p.m. for a tractor-trailer rollover on Andover Street.

“Investigations revealed … a series of unfortunate events,” King said.
