WILMINGTON, DE : Pedestrian critically injured in hit-and-run crash on early Sunday morning July 13th 2014

Delaware State Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian critically injured in the Newport area.

Police say a 49-year-old man was struck by an unknown vehicle early Sunday morning on West Newport Pike near Harding Avenue. The vehicle didn't stop and fled the scene.

Police say the pedestrian suffered multiple traumatic injuries. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

State troopers have been investigating at the scene to try to determine the make and model of the vehicle that struck the man. An investigation continues.
