Punta Gorda, FL : One seriously injured in truck collision in Punta Gorda on Wednesday morning, February 22, 2017

A Fort Myers woman was seriously injured in a collision with a truck on Wednesday morning in Punta Gorda.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the incident occurred at 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 41 and the driveway access to a sandpit located on the 16400 block of Tamiami Trail. Abel Mendiola, 25, of Bonita Springs, was driving a Western Star 4900 truck southbound on U.S. 41 and made a left turn into the driveway access, traveling into the northbound path of a Toyota Camry driven by Michelle Colome, 26, of Fort Myers, the FHP report showed.
