Orlando, FL : Driver arrested in fatal crash that killed 67-year-old pedestrian near Lake Underhill Road on Friday, February 24, 2017
A pedestrian is dead after a hit-and-run crash in Orange County Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened near Lake Underhill and Dean roads about 7:15 p.m., said highway patrol Trooper Steven Montiero.
Bobby Rainey, 67, was crossing Lake Underhill Road when she walked into the path of Selgio Alvarado’s car, Montiero said.
Alvarado hit her head-on then fled the scene, Montiero said.
Rainey was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where she later died, Montiero said.
As troopers were securing the scene, Alvarado and his family drove back to the intersection, which is just east of State Road 417 and south of State Road 408, Montiero said.
He was arrested and is facing charges of driving with a suspended license and hit and run with serious bodily harm or death.
