Columbus, NE : Clarkson man critically injured in two-vehicle accident in Platte County on Sunday, April 24, 2016
A Clarkson man was among those injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Sunday about 10 p.m., according to information from the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2007 Toyota 4runner, driven by 49-year-old Michael Emerson of Clarkson, had been traveling eastbound on Highway 30 and was attempting to turn north at the intersection of East 29th Avenue.
As the Emerson vehicle was making the northbound turn, a 2008 Ford F-150, driven by 27-year-old Travis L. Bauer of Duncan, struck the Emerson vehicle nearly head on. The Bauer vehicle had been traveling westbound on Highway 30.
Columbus Rescue transported both Emerson and a passenger from Bauer's vehicle to the Columbus Community Hospital.
Emerson later was transported by medical helicopter to Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, in critical condition.
One of the passengers from Bauer's vehicle was treated and released from the hospital while a second passenger from Bauer's vehicle was treated and released at the scene. Bauer did not receive medical treatment.
