One person was ejected in a serious crash on the inner loop of Interstate 485, near South Tryon Street Monday morning, paramedics said.
Police had shut down the highway and were rerouting traffic off the South Tryon Street exit. Two lanes of the highway were reopened around 10:45 a.m.
A medical helicopter was called out the scene, but then canceled a short time later.
Police told that the female driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when she rear-ended a tanker that was on the edge of the road.
