Alcoa, TN : Man died and three people injured in a head-on crash on Sam Houston School Road Saturday, Oct 17, 2015
Alcoa Police Chief, Philip Potter, says a Seymour man died and three people were injured in a crash on Sam Houston School Road Saturday.
Alcoa police officers got to the wreck at about 1:15 in the afternoon.
Brian L. Hembree, 34, was driving east in a Ford Expedition on Sam Houston School Road when he swerved out of his lane.
Hembree’s SUV crossed the center line, hitting a Mercury Grand Marquis head on.
The driver of the Mercury was Roger A. Penwell, 48. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Two passengers in his car, Jennifer M. Penwell, 47, and J.W. A. Penwell, 23, were extricated from the Mercury and were flown by Lifestar to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Hembree was taken by Alcoa police officers to Blount Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries and for a toxicology screening. All occupants in both vehicles were wearing their seat belts.
An investigation is continuing and more information will be released as it is available.
