GRANGER, WA : Two Lower Valley teens were taken to the hospital on Sunday, September 24th 2017

Two Lower Valley teens were taken to the hospital, and Interstate 82 westbound lanes near Granger were shut down for nearly half an hour Sunday night after a rollover crash.

Manuel Aviles, 18, of Mabton, was westbound in a 1988 Ford Mustang just before 8:30 p.m. about a mile west of Granger when the car entered the right shoulder and the driver lost control, causing the car to roll over and throw his 17-year-old passenger from the car, according to a Washington State Patrol news release.

Aviles, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Toppenish Community Hospital where he was treated and released. The female passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and was listed in critical condition in intensive care Monday afternoon.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to the release.
