Vernon County, WI : SUV driver injured after crash with plow on Highway 14 in the town of Coon on Tuesday, February 2, 2016

A sport-utility vehicle driver was seriously injured Tuesday when he lost control in Vernon County and crashed into a snow plow.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. on Highway 14 in the town of Coon. The SUV driven by Brian G. Blatz, 55, of Viroqua was heading east on the highway when it fishtailed and crossed the centerline, the Vernon County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday in a news release.

The SUV then hit the town plow, driven by 44-year-old Dennis J. Purvis, also of Viroqua. The plow ended up embedded in the SUV, and Blatz had to be freed from his vehicle.

Blatz was taken to a hospital in La Crosse with serious injuries, and Purvis was not injured.
