A 60-year-old Christiansburg man died in a single-car crash in Montgomery County Tuesday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said.David Bryan Smith was driving a 2001 Mazda Miata on Jennelle Road near the intersection of Rocky Acres Road about 1:45 p.m. when the car ran off the roadway and overturned multiple times down an embankment, the sheriff’s office said. Smith was ejected from the car, and he was declared dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash, but it remains under investigation.
