BISCOE, NC : A man airlifted from a car wreck in Biscoe on Thursday, July 13, 2017
A man airlifted from a car wreck in Biscoe on June 17 has died.
Andres Lazaro Hernandez, 31, of Conway, S.C., died July 10 from injuries suffered in the accident.
According to the accident report by Trooper Talley of the N.C. Highway Patrol, Hernandez was driving a 2006 Hyundai south on U.S. 220 Alternate near Bob’s Sporting Goods in Biscoe. Luis Ascencio-Guevara, 24, of Candor, was driving a 2003 Hummer north on U.S. 220 Alternate.
The report says there was other traffic in front of Ascencio-Guevara that had slowed to turn into Bob’s Sporting Goods. Ascencia-Guevara crossed the centerline to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him, failing to see the Hernandez Hyundai coming toward him. The two vehicles collided, causing the Hyundai to run off the road to the right, coming to rest on railroad tracks.
Hernandez was airlifted to a Charlotte hospital. There were three passengers in the Hyundai, two of whom were transported to a Pinehurst hospital, including Kimberly Lazaro Nunez, 5, and Andrea lazaro Nunez, 10. Ruth Nunez Vazquez, 33, was not injured. The three passengers were also from Conway, S.C.
Ascencio-Guevara was transported to the Pinehurst hospital.
Charges in the case are pending.
