Sussex County, DE : Serious pedestrian crash on John J. Williams Highway (Del. 24) in Sussex County on Thursday, 13th February, 2020

A 47-year-old Millsboro woman died after being hit on John J. Williams Highway (Del. 24) in Sussex County Thursday morning.

At 6:42 a.m., a 2004 Hyundai Sonata was traveling east on John J. Williams Highway just west of Rosedale Road followed by a 2011 Hyundai Tucson, Delaware State Police said.

The woman, on foot, attempted to cross John J. Williams Highway directly in front of the Sonata. The drivers of the cars were unable to avoid the pedestrian, striking her. Both operators of the motor vehicles remained at the scene.

The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was not equipped with a light or wearing reflective clothing. Her name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Sonata, a 59-year-old Millsboro woman, was properly restrained and not injured.
