COLUMBIA, MO : Two women identified in fatal Highway 124 on Wednesday, 2nd November 2016

Two women who died in a car crash in Boone County on Wednesday morning have been identified.

Sally Erickson, 71, of Hallsville and Cheryl Kennison, 62, of Centralia were driving on Highway 124 between Hallsville and Centralia when Erickson's Toyota Avalon and Kennison's Mercury Sable collided head on, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The Boone Country Fire Protection District responded to the crash at 11:49 a.m. One woman was pronounced dead on the scene, according to previous Missourian reporting. The other died as Fire District firefighters tried to extricate her from a car.

Both women were wearing seat belts, the report said. The crash was still being investigated.
