Hutchinson, KS : A Hutchinson man was killed on April, Thursday 27th 2017

A Hutchinson man was killed Thursday morning when his bicycle was hit by a motor vehicle while crossing K-61 near the mall.

According to a release from Hutchinson Police Department Sgt. Brian Hirt, Jerry W. Johnson, 29, was riding a bicycle westbound on 11th Avenue at 5:40 a.m. and entered the east side of the K-61 intersection in the eastbound lane of traffic.

A 2013 GMC Terrain driven by Ignacio Acosta, 47, of Hutchinson, was northbound on K-61 and entered the intersection from the south.

The bicycle and GMC collided in the southeast portion of the intersection. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision is still under investigation by the Hutchinson Police Department Traffic Bureau.
