PROVO, UT : Motorcyclist fatally injured in crash that shut down Provo intersection on Wednesday, 2nd October 2024
A motorcyclist was fatally injured in an early-morning collision with a car in Provo, police said.
The crash happenedaround after 6:10 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 800 North and 500 West, according to the Provo Police Department.
PPD Public Information Officer Janna-Lee Holland said the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on 500 West when it crashed into a vehicle attempting to make a left turn.
She said a witness was the one who initially reported the crash to dispatchers.
The motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital and was ultimately pronounced dead, Holland said.
It wasn't immediately known whether the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, but Holland noted that the fatal injuries were "not related to helmet use."
The individual has not been publicly identified.
The driver of the involved vehicle was cooperating with investigators, police later said in a statement.
