Oregon House, CA : Fiery crash leaves one dead, one facing DUI charges on Tuesday, 24th December, 2019
A suspected drunken driver allegedly crossed the lane into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into another vehicle Tuesday night near Oregon House, causing it to burst into flames and killing its driver, the California Highway Patrol said.
Timothy Wayne Woods, 48, of Oregon House was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence.
He suffered severe injuries in the collision and was treated at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
The fire caused by the crash made a difficult job of positively identifying the victim, according to officials with the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department, which also serves as the Coroner’s Office.
The CHP described the victim as a 47-year-old Oregon House man, but a positive identification will not be released until dental or DNA records are confirmed to match.
Officers reported Woods was driving a 2000 Chevrolet pickup east on Marysville Road past Willow Glen Road just before 11 p.m. when he crossed over the lane line and crashed into a 1986 Ford F-150.
Amy Lynne Hoff, 43, of Oregon House escaped from the Ford, which was on fire when officers arrived. She was transported to Rideout Regional Medical Center in Marysville.
