Ault, CO : One person injured in crash involving a motorcycle and car in Weld county on Sunday afternoon, Aug 23, 2015

A crash involving a motorcycle and car Sunday afternoon closed both directions of U.S. 85, about two miles north of Ault, at Weld County Road 88 and caused major and minor injuries.

The crash between the 2015 Harley Davidson and 1994 Chevy SUV happened shortly after noon, and northbound and southbound lanes were closed about 12:23 p.m., Trooper Josh Lewis said.

The highway was reopened just before 3 p.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The driver and passenger of the motorcycle were driven by ambulance to North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. The passenger, 52-year-old Francoise Veronique of France, received major injuries. The driver, 45-year-old Yann Bialgue of France, sustained minor injuries.

Steven Stock, 49, of Colorado drove the SUV and sustained only minor injuries, Lewis said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, Lewis said.

State patrol officers and Weld County emergency responders remained on scene Sunday afternoon as they worked to clean up the crash and investigate.

Alcohol and drug use are not suspected to have contributed to the crash, Lewis said.
