NEWPORT, MI : Traffic crash closes US-24 just south of Newport Road on Wednesday, October, 25th 2017
Both northbound and southbound US-24 just south of Newport Road were closed for a time Wednesday evening while area fire departments responded to a crash near Paree and Renee Streets.
It was a two-vehicle crash, according to Monroe County Central Dispatch reports; one of the vehicles was on fire.
First responders sent to the scene included Newport and Frenchtown fire departments, Monroe Community Ambulance and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash was reported about 7:50 p.m.; and Michigan Department of Transportation sent a traffic alert about 8 p.m. that US-24 was closed as a result.
