Bushkill Township, PA : Juvenile man seriously hurt in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Route 33 in Bushkill Township on Sunday, January 11, 2015

A juvenile suffered major injuries and had to be flown to a local hospital after a crash Sunday afternoon on Route 33 in Bushkill Township, according to Pennsylvania state police.

The driver of the car, also a juvenile, suffered minor to moderate injuries, according to a news release from state police.

State police did not release the names, ages or hometowns of the crash victims because they are juveniles, according to a trooper at the Belfast barracks.

The car veered off the southbound lanes of Route 33 about a mile north of the Belfast exit at 4:52 p.m. Sunday, according to the news release.

The car plowed into shrubs and trees before flipping over, the release says. The crash remains under investigation, the release says.

According to the release, both juveniles were taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill -- the passenger via helicopter and the driver via Nazareth EMS.

Assisting police were Bushkill Township EMS and fire department, Nazareth EMS and the Plainfield Township fire department, police said.

The southbound lanes were closed after the crash and reopened about 6:15 p.m., according to a Northampton County emergency dispatch supervisor.
