Bloomfield, CT : Local man badly injured when Lexus and police SUV collided in Bloomfield on Thursday night, March 31, 2016
Police say a motorist was critically injured after colliding with a Bloomfield police car that was responding to an emergency call.
The Hartford Courant reports the officer responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police say the officer was driving east on Park Avenue with the cruiser's lights and sirens activated when the officer collided with another car heading southbound on School Street.
The officer was treated at Saint Francis Hospital and released. The driver remains hospitalized in critical condition. Neither person was identified.
Authorities are investigating.
