BROCKTON, MA : Intoxicated Taunton man fled scene of Brockton rollover on April, Saturday 22nd 2017
The driver of a vehicle that rolled over into a Pearl Street yard Saturday was located by police shortly after wandering from the scene of the crash, police said.
Brockton Police and Fire Departments responded at 7:15 p.m. to 486 Pearl St. in Brockton where a gray Mitsubishi was upside and mangled, flames spewing from the front end of the vehicle, where police say the car hit a tree before flipping.
The vehicle was unoccupied when they arrived on the scene. Police located the driver of the car a short distance from the crash site.
Deverell Purnell, 35, of Taunton, was found bloody and walking down Torrey Street about a quarter-mile from the crash site, police said.
Purnell was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and was issued a summons on charges of marked lane violations, leaving the scene of property damage, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license for operating under the influence, operating under the influence, and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
