Victoria, TX : Shiner woman dies in 2-vehicle wreck on Wednesday, January, 24th 2018
A two-vehicle wreck Wednesday evening killed a Shiner woman and sent two others to an Austin hospital.
Bethany Gonzales-Baker, 42, of Shiner, was traveling west on U.S. 90 Alternate, just east of Shiner, in a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country about 5:40 p.m., said Sgt. Ruben San Miguel, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety. Beverly Sue Sanders, 53, of Shiner, was traveling east on the highway in a 2016 Ford F-250 with Jane Bailey Chisholm, 89, of Shiner, as a front-seat passenger.
For reasons still being investigated, Gonzales-Baker drove into the oncoming traffic lane and struck the Ford F-250 head-on.
Gonzales-Baker died on impact and was pronounced dead at 5:50 p.m. by Lavaca County Justice of the Peace Wayne Denson.
Sanders and Chisholm were transported by helicopter to Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas in Austin with serious injuries, San Miguel said.
Chisholm was in the intensive care unit as of Thursday afternoon.
Information about Sanders' condition was not available.
