Sheridan, WY : 33-year-old Ashley Peterson died and 8-year-old child injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash near Sheridan on Saturday, May 2, 2015

Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle rollover crash near Sheridan that killed a 33-year-old woman and injured an 8-year-old child.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says Ashley Peterson, of Ranchester, was driving on Interstate 90 about eight miles east of Sheridan when her vehicle drifted off the side of the road just before 9 p.m. Saturday. She overcorrected, and the vehicle went into the median and rolled multiple times.

Peterson, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. The child who was buckled in the back seat suffered minor injuries.

Investigators are trying to determine if distracted driving or alcohol played a role in the crash.
