Authorities say two Los Angeles Unified School District police officers have been seriously injured in a collision involving their patrol car and a dump truck in Sun Valley.

The city Fire Department says paramedics responded to the crash scene on Arleta Avenue shortly after 8:15 a.m. Friday.

City News Service says the officers were hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

The truck driver received minor injuries.

Los Angeles police Officer Doug Larkin tells it appears the patrol car struck the rear end of the truck as the truck was making a right turn.

However, the exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
