Jacksonville, FL : Man involved in fatal crash on I-295 near Lem Turner Road on Sunday morning, October 12, 2014

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to an early Sunday morning crash on Interstate 295 near Lem Turner Road. Mark Andrew Ward, 31, was driving a white Pontiac G6 northbound on I-295 towards Duval Road. A blue Dodge Ram was broken down and parked in the emergency lane of I-295. Ward drove into the emergency lane and hit the back of the Dodge Ram. The Ram was pushed 100 yards forward and Ward's car rotated 180 degrees and flipped over. Ward's Pontac went up in flames and was destroyed by the fire. Ward was pronounced dead at the scene. The JSO shut down I-295 between Dunn Avenue and Lem Turner Road for multiple hours.
