Chickasha, OK : Minco woman dies in three-vehicle collision on Wednesday, 7th March 2018

A collision involving three vehicles, including a semi truck, resulted in the death of a Minco woman.

Joyce Dee McDaniel, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a report from Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, south of Minco on US 81.

McDaniel had stopped to wait for traffic to clear in order to make a left turn onto County Road 1200. Her vehicle was struck from behind by a semi truck, which pushed her vehicle into oncoming traffic where her car was struck by a pickup pulling a 19-foot trailer.

After the impact, McDaniel’s vehicle departed the roadway to the left and the pickup departed the roadway to the right and rolled one time before coming to stop upright. The trailer attached to the pickup separated from the vehicle and came to rest on its side. The semi crossed the centerline and departed the roadway to the left before coming to rest blocking US 81, the OHP report said.

The driver and two passengers in the pickup were transported to the hospital. The driver of the semi truck was not injured.

US 81 was closed due to being blocked by the semi truck, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation was on scene redirecting traffic. US81 reopened at 7:20 p.m.

Several agencies responded to the scene including Union City Fire Department, Minco Police and Fire Department, Tuttle Fire and EMS, Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
