Anderson,SC : Troopers investigating crash involving Anderson police cruiser on August, Monday 28th 2017

Troopers with the SC Highway Patrol are investigating a crash involving an Anderson police officer Monday morning.

Per the SC Highway Patrol website, the crash occurred on the 1900 block of North Main Street near North Avenue just after 8:30 a.m.

Troopers said the crash involved an SUV and a Dodge Charger police cruiser.

The SUV was heading and and the officer was heading west.

The SUV attempted to make a left turn onto North Avenue when the SUV was struck by the oncoming police cruiser.

The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital. A juvenile passenger in the car was not hurt. The officer was also unhurt.

Troopers said the driver of the SUV was cited for failure to yield.
