Boise, ID : Spirit Lake man dies in crash on Sunday, 24th November, 2019

A Spirit Lake man died Sunday in a car crash that sent three other passengers to the hospital.

John W. Hampton, 50, was driving an SUV carrying three others in the 57000 block of Spirit Lake Cutoff Road just before 11:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release by the Idaho State Police. The SUV drove left of center when rounding a corner, striking a truck driven by 44-year-old Josiah N. Thompson, also of Spirit Lake.

The SUV overturned in the crash and came to rest in a ditch. Hampton was declared dead at the scene of the crash. Dawn M. Hampton, 39, and a juvenile passenger were taken by ambulance to Kootenai Health. A fourth juvenile passenger was taken by helicopter to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, according to the news release.
