South Burlington,VT : Three people injured after a two-car crash on Kennedy Drive on Wednesday night, March 16, 2016
South Burlington, Vermont
A two-car crash on Kennedy Drive has closed down two westbound lanes between Dorset Street and North Twin Oaks Terrace on Wednesday night.
The crash occurred shortly before 7:45 p.m. Three people were transported by South Burlington Rescue to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, South Burlington Fire Department said.
South Burlington Police Sgt. Edward Soychak said the patients appeared to have sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The South Burlington Police Department's crash reconstruction team was on scene at 8:20 p.m investigating the crash, Soychak said. South Burlington Fire Department also responded. Westbound traffic was being diverted down North Twin Oaks Terrace.
Police said a preliminary investigation shows that a car turning left off of North Twin Oaks Terrace collided with a truck traveling westbound on Kennedy Drive. The turning car left the roadway and came to rest on a grassy area off the road, receiving serious damage. The truck appeared to sustain front-end damage.
Soychak said it is too early to tell which car was at fault in the crash.
Debris remained scattered across the westbound lanes of the roadway as emergency responders worked to remove the damaged car from the side of the road around 8:30 p.m. Soychak said the force of the impact appeared to have been "significant."
South Burlington Police Department plans to release more information through a press release once the roadway is cleared and investigation complete, Soychak said.
