Mooreton, N.D : Grand Forks woman struck and killed while walking on I-29 in southeastern North Dakota on Thursday, October 13, 2016

A Grand Forks woman is dead after being struck by a pickup truck on Interstate 29 in southeastern North Dakota.

The Highway Patrol says the 27-year-old woman was walking in the traffic lanes shortly before midnight Thursday when she was hit. She had been a passenger in a vehicle that had pulled onto the highway’s shoulder for unknown reasons.

The woman was declared dead at the scene near Mooreton in Richland County. She wasn’t immediately identified. The driver of the pickup truck wasn’t hurt.
