Buhl, ID : Authorities ID ATV riders injured in crashes on Saturday, 22nd September 2018

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office has identified the three people injured in two crashes that occurred at about 4 p.m. Saturday in Buhl.

The Sheriff’s Office reported Lucas T. Clement, 21, of Virginia was airlifted from the scene where an ATV crashed near Buhl city park on Memorial Drive. Alexa H. Smith, 19, of Cloquet was also injured in the crash. Their ATV was traveling westbound on Memorial Drive at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway and went into the grassy ditch area of the park, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The ATV then traveled through the air a short distance before landing and flipping end over end multiple times. Both Clement and Smith were ejected from the ATV during the crash, according to the Sheriff’s Office.Tyler J. Clement, 25, of Chisholm was on an ATV that crashed a few hundred feet nearby, at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Jefferson Street, according to the Sheriff’s Office. In an attempt to assist in the other crash, he turned around in the middle of the roadway and rolled his ATV over. He was pinned underneath the ATV until he was assisted by neighbors in the area, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Lucas Clement was airlifted to St. Luke’s Hospital and then to a Twin Cities hospital with life-threatening injuries. Smith and Tyler Clement were transported to Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi in Hibbing with non-life threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Office didn’t have an update on their conditions Monday.
