A motorcyclist was killed Thursday afternoon after crossing over into the oncoming lane of Route 39.
The name of the victim, or who owned the Kawasaki motorcycle, remains unidentified, according to the accident report released Friday.
The motorcycle was traveling northbound on Route 39 around 2:20 p.m., near Old Shortwoods Road, when it was struck by a 2009 Optima Kia that was traveling in the southbound lane. The driver of the Kia was identified as Allyssa Christine Rabuse, 21, of New Fairfield.
After being struck by the Kia, the motorcyclist was ejected from the bike. The motorcyclist was taken to Danbury Hospital and pronounced dead. Rabuse was also sent to Danbury Hospital for minor injuries.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene.
