El Paso County, CO : 2 motorcyclists killed in separate El Paso County crashes, including alleged hit-and-run by Colorado Springs woman on Sunday, 18th October, 2020

Two motorcyclists were killed in separate El Paso County crashes and a Colorado Springs woman was arrested on suspicion of driving away from one, the Colorado State Patrol said in news releases Sunday.

Erick Rios Lopez of Fountain was killed about 6 p.m. Saturday on northbound Interstate 25, about 15 miles south of Colorado Springs, when he was thrown from his Harley Davidson after a Nissan Altima hit him and another motorcycle, troopers said. Lopez was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Nissan, Shannon Burton, 44, of Colorado Springs, lost control after the crash and veered off the right side of the interstate. She drove away afterward and was later found in Fountain, troopers said.

The other motorcyclist, Nathanael Hauser, 32, of Colorado Springs, was thrown from his Harley Davidson and rolled in the median. Hauser was also wearing a helmet and had minor injuries.
