A man from Rosebud, Mo., was killed Thursday evening in a three-vehicle crash in Franklin County, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported.
Michael R. Branson, 50, died in the crash about 5:10 p.m. on Highway 50 near Highway C, the patrol said. Branson, who was driving a Ford Focus west on Highway 50, crossed the center line and struck an eastbound tractor-trailer driven by Joseph Zengarli, 28, of Quebec, Canada.
The patrol said Zengarli tried to avoid Branson's car, but Branson struck a rear wheel of the truck trailer. Branson's car then went back across the center line. A tire came off Branson's car and hit another car traveling behind him.
Zengarli suffered moderate injuries, the patrol said. The woman driving the car hit by the tire, Samantha L. Strubberg, 26, of Gerald, Mo., had minor injuries.
Branson was pronounced dead at the crash scene, the patrol said.
