Boone County, IL : Columbia man in critical condition after crash at Boone County on Wednesday, 25th July 2018

A Columbia man was in critical condition at University Hospital on Thursday morning after suffering serious injuries in a Wednesday evening crash.

Tony Copenhaver, 50, was headed northbound on Route Z north of St. Charles Road when his 2002 Ford Explorer left the right side of the road and struck an embankment, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Copenhaver apparently overcorrected, returned to the highway then overturned several times.

The crash, which totaled Copenhaver's car, happened at 5:45 p.m. Boone County Emergency Medical Services took Copenhaver to the hospital.
