Eau Claire, WI : Mother and her 3-year-old daughter died in crash in Eau Claire County on Friday, July 1, 2016

The investigation continues into the cause of a crash that killed a mother and her 3-year-old daughter in Eau Claire County.

Sheriff’s investigators say a car driven by 20-year-old Shania Felton left Highway 85 near Eau Claire and rolled into a pond Friday. Passers-by tried to help Felton and her daughter, Taylor Thompson, but were unable to reach them.

The first deputy on the scene says the car was submerged in the pond. The mother and daughter were pronounced dead at the hospital in Eau Claire.

A funeral service is scheduled for Friday at Jacob’s Well Church in Chippewa Falls.
