Saginaw County, MI : Motorcyclist dies after head-on crash with car in Bridgeport Township Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016
A motorcyclist who was struck head-on by a car in Bridgeport Township Sunday, Sept. 11, has died.
Jesse Page, 47, of Buena Vista Township was in critical condition following the crash and has since died of his injuries, according to a Bridgeport Township Police Department news release issued Tuesday, Sept. 13.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Mr. Page," the news release states.
Police say the driver of a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu was attempting to pass another vehicle when he collided head-on with a 2012 Harley-Davidson driven by Page.
Officials with the Bridgeport Township Police Department were dispatched to the crash on Sheridan Road north of Washington about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a previously issued police department news release.
Page was critically injured as a result of the crash. The 19-year-old Saginaw man driving the Chevrolet Malibu was not injured, but two of his passengers, both 18 years old, suffered minor injuries, the release states.
There were five people in the Chevrolet Malibu and one person on the motorcycle.
The initial investigation indicates the 19-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Malibu was attempting to pass another vehicle southbound on Sheridan when it struck the motorcycle, which was northbound on Sheridan, the release states.
Police are withholding the Malibu driver's name pending further investigation.
Bridgeport Township police continue to investigate the crash with the assistance of the Saginaw Area Crash Investigation Team and Michigan State Police. When the investigation is complete, the report will be forwarded to the Saginaw County Prosecutor's Office for review, the release states.
Police did not say whether the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, but a helmet was visible at the crash site.
