Warwick, R.I : Brett Taraska, 30, died in a Single-Car Crash on Ives Road on Monday afternoon, May 11, 2015

Warwick Police are investigating after an Exeter man was killed in a motor vehicle accident Monday afternoon.

Police say Brett Taraska, 30, died died from injuries sustained in the crash.

It happened at approximately 3:14 p.m. when a single vehicle crashed head on into a tree on Ives Road.

Police say Taraska was driving southbound when he veered left, crossing the yellow lines, and crashed into a tree.

Taraska was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are investigating to determine whether alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash, or if the driver possibly suffered a medical incident moments prior.

Officials do not believe that speed was a factor. The driver also appeared to be partially buckled at the time of the crash. The airbag did deploy.
