Wickliffe, OH : SUV driver was speeding before crash with ODOT truck on Wednesday morning, January 28, 2015

Authorities say one person is dead following an early morning crash between a Ford Explorer and an ODOT truck.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday on the E. 305th Street entrance ramp to Route 2 West.

When they arrived, police found that an Ohio Department of Transportation plow truck had been struck from behind by a Ford Explorer.

The Explorer then struck the guardrail on the north side of the highway entrance ramp.

The driver and sole occupant of the Explorer; Robert S. Cline, 61, of Willowick, was trapped in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene and extricated from the vehicle by Wickliffe Fire Department personnel.

The driver of the ODOT truck was taken to Lake West Hospital for possible injuries.

Initial investigation indicates that the Explorer was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the ODOT truck.
