Logan, OH : OSHP investigates fatal wreck on SR 93 South Thursday morning on Thursday, February 16th 2017
A Portsmouth man, Austin G. Blevins, 22, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by a representative of the Hocking County Coroner’s office.
Blevins was driving a 2005 Ford Taurus sedan southbound and drove left of center striking a 2017 Ford passenger bus, according to OSHP. The passenger bus, driven by Logan resident James R. Mays, 60, was hit head-on by Blevins’ vehicle.
Mays was transported to Hocking Valley Community Hospital and later released after being treated for minor injuries. According to a family member, Mays is sore from the seatbelt and airbag and in shock.
There were no other occupants on the passenger bus at the time of the accident.
In addition to the Hocking County Coroner’s Office, Hocking County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, Starr Township Volunteer Fire Department, Hocking County EMS, Ohio State Highway Patrol-Athens Post, and the Ohio Department of Transportation responded to the scene.
The roadway was closed in both directions during the time of cleanup.
The accidents remains under investigation.
