Huntsville, TX : Huntsville man seriously injured in traffic accident on Wednesday, September 13, 2017
A Huntsville man was flown to a Houston hospital Wednesday morning after his motorcycle was hit head-on by a county-owned vehicle.
Tucker Dierksheide, 24, is being treated at Memorial Hermann Hospital for multiple compound fractures. The Huntsville Police Department reports he is expected to make a full recovery.
According to the incident report, Dierksheide was traveling north on a red Honda CB750 on State Highway 75 near the FM 2821 intersection about 6:55 a.m. Wednesday. Police say Dierksheide had a green light and was driving through the intersection when a Ford F-350 Walker County work truck traveling south on Highway 75 attempted to make a left turn onto FM 281.
The motorcycle collided with the front of the truck.
“Basically, the truck failed to yield the right of way at the intersection,” said Lt. Jim Barnes with the Huntsville Police Department. “The driver was issued a citation for it. It was an accident, but unfortunately Mr. Dierksheide was seriously injured. We spoke with his family. They indicated he should recover from this. It will just take time and physical therapy.”
