Julian , CA : Motorcycliust killed in crash after motorcycle and a Toyota Prius crashed near Scissors Crossing in East County on Saturday afternoon , March 14th 2015

A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in a crash near Scissors Crossing in the East County.

The motorcycle and a Toyota Prius crashed in the westbound lanes on Route 78 near the Great Southern Overland Stage Route of 1849 shortly before 3 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol and CalFire.

The rider died at the scene, Cal Fire Battalion Chief Nick Schuler said.

The Toyota's driver was not hurt.

State Route 78 was temporarily closed in both direction between San Felipe Road and the Yaqui Pass, but one lane was later reopened, the CHP said.
