Collier County, FL : Pedestrian hit by vehicle near Immokalee Winn Dixie on Sunday evening, November 9, 2014

Florida Highway Patrol is busy trying to piece together what happened Sunday evening outside of the Winn Dixie in Immokalee. A pedestrian was struck and killed as a result of the impact with a vehicle. The unidentified person was struck about 7:00 p.m. Sunday in an area near Lake Trafford Road and Laurel Street. The victim is a woman and according to witnesses was walking toward the store when she was hit by the driver of a dark colored Chevrolet Suburban with tinted windows. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FHP. Witnesses said it appeared to be an accident, and that the driver of the Suburban was a man.
