Gainesville, FL : Starke teen injured in ATV crash on April, Saturday 1st 2017

A Starke teenager driving an all-terrain vehicle on a sidewalk was critically injured Saturday when he lost control and hit a utility pole, reported the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jody M. Griffis, 14, was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital following the crash. It occurred at 1:30 p.m. at Northeast 17th Avenue and 154th Trail, FHP said in a news release.

Griffis was driving a 2011 Honda TRX 420 on a sidewalk in an erratic and careless manner when he lost control and struck a pole, the release states. He was unresponsive at the scene and taken by ambulance to Shands in critical condition, FHP reported.
