Two people were hurt in a one-car crash Saturday morning in Clay County at the intersection of Indiana 340 and County Road 500 West.
The driver of a westbound auto lost control of the vehicle and over-corrected after it ran off the roadway, according to a news release from the Clay County Sheriff’s Department.
A passenger in the car, Kendra Hutchison, 20, of Brazil, was trapped in the car following the 7:30 a.m. incident and was flown by helicopter to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis after freed from the wreckage, the release stated. A hospital spokesman said Tuesday Hutchison has since been discharged.
The driver, Taylor Okulovich, 19, of Brazil, was thrown from the car and was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.
Alcohol and speed are believed to have been factors in the crash, the news release said, noting the crash remains under investigation.
