Deersville, OH : Young women dead in a a single-vehicle crash on Harrison County Road 2 near Deersville on Tuesday afternoon, November 18, 2014
Poor road conditions were reportedly a factor in a single-vehicle crash on Harrison County Road 2 near Deersville Tuesday afternoon that claimed the life of an 18-year-old Harrison Central High School student.
Authorities declined to identify the victim. She was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene in Stock Township.
The accident occurred at approximately 3:11 p.m.
According to the St. Clairsville post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the teen was traveling in a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier west on County Road 2 when she failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The Cavalier struck the end of a section of guardrail and was vaulted into the air.
The car struck a tree while airborne and came to rest on the north side of County Road 2.
The driver was not wearing a safety belt, authorities said.
