One woman is dead after a one-vehicle crash on Deans Bridge Road on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Richmond County coroner Mark Bowen, Lisa Ann Welch, 46, of Augusta, was traveling north on Deans Bridge Road at a high rate of speed when she lost control, crossed the southbound lanes and ran off the road.

The crash took place in the 4300 block of Deans Bridge Road, near the Richmond County Landfill. Welch was the only passenger in the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:17 p.m.

No information on the victim’s identity has been released, pending notification of relatives.
