Bixby, MN : Medford man killed, Austin woman injured in Two Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 218 in Steele County on Tuesday morning, December 23, 2014

The less than desirable road conditions have caused a fatal accident in Steele County. The Minnesota State Patrol reports that the driver of a Ford Focus was headed southbound on Highway 218 at approximately 7 a.m. Tuesday.

That's when the driver lost control and spun out and went "left of center, " broadsiding the passenger side of a northbound vehicle. The state patrol says a 50-year-old Medford man was killed in the crash.

The other driver involved was a 31-year-old Austin woman. In addition to the state patrol, Blooming Prairie police also responded to the crash. The woman from Austin had non-life threatening injuries.
