Lawndale, CA : Long Beach man struck by car, killed in El Camino Village on Thursday, March 9, 2017
A 50-year-old Long Beach man was killed when he was struck by a car as he crossed an El Camino Village street, police said Friday.
The unidentified man died Thursday following the 6:25 p.m. incident on Manhattan Beach Boulevard at Cranbrook Avenue, the California Highway Patrol said.
The man, accompanied by Fahad Al-Husain, 33, of Long Beach, were walking south in a marked crosswalk across Manhattan Beach Boulevard when an eastbound 2005 Chevrolet struck them.
The driver, Jesus Gutierrez, 45, of Gardena, told officers he did not see the men, the CHP said. One man died at Memorial Hospital of Gardena. Al-Husain was treated for minor injuries.
Gutierrez was not arrested. The crash was under investigation.
